Assessments and climate goals

  • SBTi

We have set science-based climate targets approved by the Science Based Targets initiative and are committed to reducing emissions from our own operations in line with these targets by 2030. In 2026, we will update these targets to align with the operations of our new company and set additional long-term targets.

  • EcoVadis

EcoVadis, the international corporate sustainability rating provider, granted Luotea a Gold rating in 2024. This achievement places Luotea within the top five percent of over 130,000 assessed companies. Luotea has taken part in the EcoVadis sustainability assessment since 2017.

EcoVadis is a rating platform that assesses companies’ sustainability in the areas of environment, labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement.

UN Sustainable Development Goals

Luotea is committed to supporting the UN Sustainable Development Goals in its operations. We have identified the most relevant SDG goals for us in accordance with our sustainability strategy updated in 2022.

The most important goals for Luotea are clean energy, decent work and economic growth, reducing inequality, sustainable cities, climate and life on earth.

SDG 7

Goal 7: Affordable and clean energy

Luotea increases the share of renewable fuel by using low-emission fleet and renewable fuels in transportation. In Finland, we use emission-free nuclear electricity in our own properties.

SDG 8

Goal 8: Decent work and economic growth

Luotea promotes safe and secure working environments for all workers, with special attention to vulnerable groups. Our aim is zero accidents. We aim to reduce our total recordable incident frequency (TRIF) to less than 15 by 2030. Luotea has zero tolerance to forced labor, modern slavery, and child labor. Luotea respects and supports human rights in its operations.

SDG 10

Goal 10: Reduced inequalities

Luotea's goal is to develop our operating culture with a focus on diversity and equality. At Luotea, everyone is free to be themselves. We treat each other and our suppliers fairly. At Luotea gender is not a factor in pay. In 2022, our Finnish operations conducted wage surveys in accordance with the Equality Act. The wage surveys did not reveal any unjustified differences in pay between the genders.

SDG 11

Goal 11: Sustainable cities and communities

Luotea creates value for the society and communities. We want to mitigate climate change. The services Luotea produces for its customers reduce emissions and promote energy efficiency.

In addition, we aim to increase greenery in urban environments to enhance people’s well-being and support climate change adaptation.

SDG 13

Goal 13: Climate action

Luotea’s climate commitments cover the entire value chain (Scope 1, 2 & 3). Luotea’s strategic objective is to halve the carbon footprint of its own operations (Scope 1 and 2) by 2030, using 2018 as the baseline.

As part of Luotea’s science-based emission reduction target, we have set separate climate targets for the supply chain.

Luotea set a separate emission reduction target for scope 3 emissions. The target is to reduce emissions by 20 % by 2030, using 2022 as the baseline. Luotea’s emission reduction targets are based on science and validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). Our emission targets correspond to the Paris Agreement goal of limiting the warming of the climate to well below 2°C.

SDG 15

Goal 15: Life on land

Our goal is to promote biodiversity together with our customers. We aim to take action that has a positive impact on biodiversity, particularly in the built environment. Luotea’s services restore lawns and idle land into natural meadows and forests and removes invasive species such as rosa rugosa and Himalayan balsam.
