What makes a good CV? Tips for writing a resume

Written by Luotea | Nov 21, 2025 11:23:36 AM

A carefully crafted CV, or resume, helps employers find important information about you and improves your chances of getting the job. Use the checklist created by Luotea’s recruitment team to polish your resume.

A good CV allows you to quickly see all the essentials; contact details, work experience, and education clearly listed

6 Tips for Perfecting Your CV

1. Remember Clarity

A good CV should allow the reader to quickly find all the essentials, contact details, experience, and education clearly listed. Use subheadings and bold text to create clarity. These small adjustments make your CV easier to read at a glance. You can also add a professional photo or even a short introduction video. The purpose of the photo is to give your CV a face, making it easier for the recruiter to remember you!

2. Follow a Logical Order

List your jobs and education in chronological order, starting with the most recent, and include dates at least down to the month. For example: “Sales Assistant, 06/2015–08/2019.”

This way, the employer gets a clear overview of your work and study history. Remember, a lack of work experience is not a barrier to job hunting — attitude matters!

3. Highlight Relevant Strengths

Describe your experience concisely and emphasize strengths that are relevant to the role. If identifying your strengths feels difficult, think about things you’ve been praised for in the past. If you don’t have prior work experience, highlight skills gained through education, volunteer work, or even hobbies.

4. Stand Out

You can make your CV visually appealing by investing in its design. Visual CV templates and tools are available online or directly in Word, Canva, or PowerPoint. These can help you stand out!

5.  Keep Your CV Updated

Always update your CV whenever something new happens in your work or education. Starting the job application process is much easier when your CV is already up to date.

6. Send as a PDF and Name It Clearly

Always save your finished CV as a PDF and name it clearly, for example: “CV – Your Name.” This makes it easy for recruiters to open and process your documents, and they look polished.

We look forward to receiving your CV and application!
